SEAL SAFARI
SKÄRGÅRDSKOMPANIET
SEAL SAFARI
Join us for an interesting and exciting nature experience at the far end of the outer archipelago. On Wednesdays and Sundays between 29 June and 17 August, we visit Sandsänkan seal protection area.
In the middle of the seal protection area, which has a radius of 1 km, stands the lighthouse Sandsänkan. Here are some smaller slabs that a seal colony has re-established at for some decade.
On Wednesdays, the boat departs from Tyrislöt at 16.00. First we go to Harstena and there we meet our guide. If you are going to stay overnight, you can also check in. Among other things, we get to know a little about Harstena’s history and the seal hunt on the island. At about 18.00 we go on to the seal protection area at Sandsänkan. The trip takes just under 2 hours. After the open sea trip we return to Harstena and then there is enough time to eat dinner at for e.g. the restaurant Loftet in the harbor or take walk around the island. For those who do not want to stay overnight, we then continue back towards Tyrislöt at 21.00 (arriving around 21.30). If you stay over the night, you can go back with the Skärgårdslinjen (Archipelago line) at 14.30 on Thursday (this trip has to be booked separately at www.skargardslinjen.com).
On Sundays, the boat departs from Fyrudden at 16.00. First we go to Harstena and there we go for a walk on the island and get information about Harstena and the island’s historic seal hunt. At 18.00 we then continue towards the seal protection area Sandsänkan. The trip takes just under 2 hours. When we return to Harstena, there is time to visit the restaurant in the harbor or go for a walk. The boat returns to Fyrudden at 21.00 (arriving around 21.30).
If you want to stay over the night at Harstena, you can book a cottage and go back to Fyrudden 15.00 the next day (this trip has to be booked separately at www.skargardslinjen.com).
